Land trust garden tour set for July 15; tickets now on sale

Rockland — The 27th Annual Georges River Land Trust Gardens in the Watershed tour will take place Sunday, July 15, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., rain or shine, in the lower reaches of the Georges River watershed. This year’s tour includes six gardens in Rockland, Owls Head and South Thomaston. Advance tickets, $25 apiece, are now available for purchase at local outlets and online at

Gardening experts will speak at two of the gardens, offering helpful information for all gardeners. Anne Perkins will speak about growing vegetables at Headacre Farm in Owls Head at 11 a.m. And Esperanza Stancioff of University of Maine’s Co-Operative Extension will speak at 2 p.m. on “Climate Change Effects on Zones and Planting in Maine.”

Attendees are invited to pre-order lunch catered by Home Kitchen Café. Raffle tickets are also on sale for $10 each, or $50 for six chances to win a variety of items and experiences, including a private garden consultation with Jody Payne, a pair of earrings from Michael Good Gallery, a stay at 250 Main Hotel, a private tasting party for 10 at Fiore Olive Oils and Vinegars, a painting by Bjorn Runquist, or a long weekend stay at a cottage on the Sheepscot River in Somerville.
