Kiwanis Club of Rockland Meeting Minutes, Monday, July 3, 2017

President Broo Temple called the meeting to order and led in the Pledge of Allegiance. Bill Batty, Jr. offered the invocation. Guests included Lucas Alexander Baker, and Kiwanis scholarship winners Lilly, Max, Cassie, Jordan, and Ryan.

Committee Reports
There will be a Special Olympics committee meeting at the former world headquarters of Kinney Rentals next Tuesday at 5:15pm.The Aktion Club meets this week.
Meals on Wheels: there is no delivery tomorrow. The rest of the month is ok, though we need an experienced helper on the 25th. August has opportunities if you'd like to deliver.
Barbara Hanson reported she'd prefer hot noodles to the cold Thai noodle salad served today. (This was added by the editor to see who was paying attention.)
The grand raffle is underway! Please get some tickets from chair person Bill Batty, Jr. If you have a buyer but no tickets, they're available at Rockbound Computer, the Rockland branch of Camden National, and at Dream Local.

Recognition of Members

Gordon Page circulated some pics from an old meeting he found.
Secret Greeter: Doc Lombardi caught Jane Thompson, Lynn Taylor, Jane Thompson, Barbara Hanson, and Bill Batty. Barbara Hanson will be the secret greeter next week.
Badges: All ok.
50/50: Guest Jordan had the right ticket, but didn't cut the Joker. The pot is at $97.50.

Gordon Page was happy for all those photos where he had hair. Greg Hamlin was happy to turn in six tickets. Barbara Hanson was happy for family visiting. Lynn Taylor was happy for the scholarship recipients, and happy for Lindsay's new job. Gerry Zwick was happy he bought the winning 50/50 ticket for Jordan, sad about the state budget impasse, and happy for the 4th and his military brothers and sisters in arms. Jane Merrill was happy to turn in 3 tickets, happy for the lunch, and happy to see Bill Batty at Rhumb Line last week. Jackie Harjula was happy to turn in 4 tickets, happy she had more coming, happy for a Steelin' Thunder gig, and happy her church was offering a tent for people to use on the 4th. Broo Temple was happy for our guests, and sad the budget issue meant he wasn't working at the state park.

Come join us any Monday for the fun and fellowship of Kiwanis. We meet at noon for about 75 minutes; and on the last Monday of the month we meet at 6:00 PM, with a social period beginning at 5:30. Our meetings are held at the Lighthouse Museum in Rockland. Be sure to check in advance to confirm the meeting venue.  We'd love to see you.
