Rockland — Many of us have fond memories of making our own toys out of cardboard boxes and things we found around the house.

The concept is even getting pop culture treatment, as "Toy Story 4," coming out later this year, features a character named Forky made from a spork and pipe cleaners.

Youngsters had an opportunity to learn how to make their own toys using pipe cleaners, beads, flowers, straws and cloth March 14 at the Rockland Public Library with help from librarian Katie Drago.
