Rockland — We are saddened to announce that Kenneth (Ken) Nicholas Anderson Sr., 78, of Rockland, went home to be with his Lord and Savior and previous loved ones Feb. 4, 2021.

Yet, despite his struggles with dementia and other health issues, he remained a dominant force in preaching, singing, writing and inspiring so many of us with his sermons on life and living for the Lord every day.

He was born to parents Nicholas John and Hattie Marie Lossing Anderson April 9, 1942, in Rockland.

Ken spent most of his childhood on Criehaven with his parents and siblings as a son of a lobsterman. At the age of 10, the family moved to DeLand, Fla., where his father died Oct. 5, 1952.

Later, Ken graduated from DeLand High School and married Nancy Elaine Hemby of DeLand, Fla., June 2, 1963. This new chapter of life continued and brought their children, Kirsty Jo Anderson born Aug. 31, 1964, Kenneth Nicholas ‘Nick’ Anderson born Jan. 27, 1969, and Keli Jean Anderson born April 2, 1977.

The children were raised in DeLand. The oldest daughter Kirsty then left for college. The family was then moved to Milton, Fla., where Ken attended Faith Bible College and Theological Seminary where he received his bachelor’s, master’s and Doctorate's degree in religious theology.

After the loss of his wife Nancy to cancer in 1994, Ken made a long-awaited return trip to Rockland where he met and married Mary Kathleen Gott of Rockland Oct. 1, 1995. He was pastor and Sunday school teacher of local churches and a faithful servant of the Lord until the day he died.

Kathy, who survives him, was a great and faithful partner for the last 25 years to both Ken and his family. Thank you, Kathy, for taking such great care of Dad.

Ken is also survived by his children, Kirsty Jo Clemensen, Nick Anderson, Keli Jean Thorn, 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and one on the way; his sister Karen Trippe Neal; his brother John Anderson. Ken is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert (Bobby) Anderson.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, May 21, at the Ridge Cemetery, Port Clyde (Martinsville). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sussman House, Hospice Care, 40 Anchor Drive, Rockport ME 04856.
