Rockland — The Friends of Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge is holding a juried art show with selected entries being exhibited and sold in the Maine Coastal Islands Art Gallery at the refuge Visitor Center, 9 Water St., during August.

“Fins, Feathers & Fur: Maine Coastal Wildlife” is the theme, and any 2-D or 3-D art ready to hang is welcome. This show is open to all ages and levels of experience. The entry fee for each item is a suggested donation of $25, $10 for students. Amanda Skinner, manager of the University of New England Art Gallery, is the juror.

Entries are to be dropped off Saturday, July 29, between 9 a.m. and noon; unselected items are picked up between 3 and 4 p.m.  Artists can send their entry forms in early and have the art dropped off that day. Guidelines and entry forms are available online at mainecoastislands.org, at the visitor center or by calling 594-0600, ext. 5.

There will be an opening reception First Friday, Aug. 4, from 4 to 7 p.m. for this show. Best in Show and People’s Choice will be awarded the center’s newly designed Friends T-shirt. All proceeds support the work of the Friends and the wildlife refuge.
