Judge awards Rockland woman damages for dog bite

By Stephen Betts | May 13, 2020

Rockland — A state judge ruled that a Rockland woman should receive nearly $5,000 in damages after being bitten by a dog.

Justice Bruce Mallonee issued his ruling May 8 in Knox County Superior Court in the 2017 lawsuit filed by Kathleen S. Flanders against Fern Robin Gordon of Rockport.

Mallonee heard testimony in the case Feb. 4.

The judge ruled that Flanders was entitled to $840 for medical expenses and $4,000 for intangible losses.

Court records show that Flanders was bit on the arm by Gordon's dog — an Irish wolfhound-German shepherd mix — in the doorway of the Rockport woman's home. Flanders suffered a puncture wound that required medical treatment and led to her being on light duty for a while from her work as a certified nursing assistant.
