Joyce Hickman

Jan 28, 2013

Sumter, S.C. — Joyce Hickman, 72, passed away on Jan. 19, 2013 at Toumey Hospital in Sumter, S.C.

She was born at Camden Hopsital on Nov. 26, 1941. Joyce was the oldest of five children of James W. and Preppa Leland.

Joyce liked to do many crafts, but her first love was nursing and worked in Camden Hopsital in the SNFF unit.

She married Herbert Hickman, often called "Sonny."

Between them they had four children: Chris, Mark and as set of twins, Todd and Tammy. When her children were grown she and Sonny moved to Sumter, S.C. She continued her love of nursing in the hospital there.

Her health declined because of her diabetes. After a period of hospital stays, her body seemed to wear out and she could not bounce back.

Joyce left behind her beloved family, her husband Sonny Hickman, three sons, Chris Hickman, Mark Hickman and Todd Hickman and daughter Tammy Patten. She had many grandchildren.

She will be missed by all.
