Josie wants a home with another dog to play with

Josie is 9 months old, and would love a canine sibling in her new home.

Our pet picks of the week are Josie and Tee Pee. Josie is a recent graduate of our K-9 Corrections Program with the Maine State Prison. While there, this adorable youngster, around 9 months old, learned basic manners, a few tricks and some much-needed confidence. Now she is ready to go home. An ideal home for Josie is one with a resident dog.

This shy, reserved girl warms up to people with familiarity, but put another dog in the mix, and Josie lights up, becomes animated and full of play. She'd love to have a canine buddy to boost her confidence and romp around with. A day at the dog park for her is like Christmas morning to kids. If you are looking for a sweet, loving, playful, dog-loving dog, stop in and meet Josie.

It's impossible not to smile when looking at Tee Pee. Just look at those adorable crossed eyes. And what a personality. This senior feline boy is as friendly and loving as they get. He loves to be a constant companion. Much like a dog, he will follow you around the house to keep you company. Tee Pee is fine with other cats, too. He just needs a loving home where there is a sunbeam to stretch out in and a lap to warm. Is your home that home?

It's here! Our annual Whisker Walk and Family Fun day is this Saturday at Harbor Park in Rockland. Join us for a leisurely walk along the Boardwalk and downtown Rockland as we raise awareness and funds for homeless animals in our community. There is plenty to do after the walk, too, with a try-your-luck agility course, Canine Good Citizen demonstration, face-painting, Tie Dye Bandanas, Doggy Day Spa, hot dogs, Bill's famous fries, scrumptious baked goods, rescue groups and more. For a complete list of sponsors and to register for the event, visit hskcme.org.

Save the date: Join us at the Rock Harbor Brewing Co. tasting room on Route 1, Sunday, Sept. 24, from 1 to 5 p.m. for a day of Barks, Brews, & BBQ to help support Pope Memorial Humane Society's spay and neuter fund! Guaranteed to be a howling good time, grab your friends for a Sunday Funday for a great cause!

Wish list: Large and Kitchen garbage bags, toilet paper, paper towels, wet cat food (pate style) and gift certificates to Walmart, Staples, Amazon and other local businesses. Thanks for your support.

Tee pee is a senior cat looking for a cozy home.
