Artist Jon Mort will host his first solo Open Studio “EVERY STORY” exhibiting new works of art on August 4th & 5th, 10:AM to 5:PM at his Port Clyde, Maine studio Fieldstone Castle. Jon will present an Artist Talk on Saturday, August 4th at 1:PM. The studio is located at 129 Marshall Pt. Lighthouse Rd, Port Clyde, Maine 04855. 207-372-8658.

This event will celebrate Jon’s first solo Open Studio. Since 2009 he has shown his artwork at his summer studio jointly with his father artist Greg Mort.  This summer’s exhibition will exclusively feature Jon's latest creations.

Jon Mort has rapidly moved from emerging contemporary artist to established young rising star in the art world. Jon’s art reflects a strong “sense of place”. He spent his early years in the historic rural town of Sandy Spring, MD and on the coast of Maine in Port Clyde. Jon began his professional career as an artist immediately after obtaining a BA in Studio Art from Franklin & Marshall College and a masters in architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design.

A self-described ‘storyteller’, Jon cites influences in his work from archaeology to astronomy. His strikingly colored pencil and graphite renderings embrace the narrative potential of portraiture, mythological inspirations, and still-life compositions. As stated by Mort, "My influences are wide-ranging, from ancient mythology to the modern portrait. My creations are at once allegiant to the craft of physiological exactitude and immersed in the breadth of fantastical narrative. I believe in the potential of work that blends time-honored technique with fresh composition."

Jon’s artwork has been shown in over twenty major exhibitions in galleries and museums throughout the East Coast and was featured in American Art Collector Magazine’s October issue. He is represented world-wide by MassoniArt-Carla Massoni Gallery and Somerville Manning Gallery and his work can be found in public and private collections around the country.  Jon lives and works in Washington, DC during the winter and Port Clyde, Maine in the summer.
