Medomak Arts offers drop-in jewelry making in September.

Waldoboro — The current exhibition of oil paintings and pastels by artist Sandra C. Hilt will be on display at Medomak Arts, 13 Friendship St., during ArtWalk Waldoboro Saturday, Sept. 9, from 4 to 7 p.m.

Hilt spent many years in Japan, studying with noted artist Shinjiri Nakamura. The Union native now spends half the year in Florida. In both Maine and Florida, she makes paintings and pastels inspired and influenced by the ever-changing atmosphere of the environment. Her award-winning work has been represented at the Art of the Sea Gallery in South Thomaston. This show continues through early October, open by chance or appointment.

Also in the gallery, crafter Lisa Goode is holding jewelry making workshops Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in September. People with all levels of experience are welcome to make something special for themselves or for gift giving. Those interested can drop by or call ahead for more information or to register at 832-4774 (email medomakarts.org). Cost is a $10 donation to the nonprofit Medomak Arts, which aims to foster imagination and creativity for all members of the Medomak region by providing arts education, celebration and promotion.

Medomak Arts is located in the village, in view of the Medomak River. Two large rooms and kitchen are available to rent for community and private events; high-speed internet will be available soon.
