Jazz, java-inspired tunes at Rock City

Jul 14, 2017
Cindy Millar sings standards and more with By the Bay Jazz Trio.

Rockland — Rock City Café, 316 Main St., is in the summer swing of musical things Friday and Saturday nights, July 21 and 22. The live music runs from 7 to 9 p.m.

On Friday, Rock City welcomes back the By the Bay Jazz Trio with vocalist Cindy Millar. The trio plays arrangements of jazz classics from Hollywood and Broadway and by many composers from the Golden Age of American Song, as well as numerous Latin rhythm standards. By the Bay features Dennis Gurgul of Tenants Harbor on percussion; Shaun Bolduc of Pittson on bass; and Dick White of Warren on guitar. Millar lives in Washington.

On Saturday, Teddy Casey, David Butler, and Josh Carpenter will bring their specific flavor of Americana to the Rock City Cafe stage as Willy Off the Pickle Boat. Asked for a description, Casey said the band plays music for people who drink coffee at night.

Food is available until closing. For more information on these and other events happening at the coffeebar/cafe, call 594-4123 or find it on Facebook.
