Thomaston — The monthly First Sunday Jazz Jam at the Highlands Coffee House March 2 will start at 1 p.m. and run an extra half hour, to 3:30 p.m.

The house band will open with a couple of tunes and then players on the signup sheet will take their turns sitting in. At 3 p.m., the jam will open up to everyone.

“My hope is that we will now have time for featured players and a time for anyone to sit in,” said Mike Whitehead, who helms the event.

He added that the signup sheet may have to be limited to four slots, “so if you want to be sure of a place, come early.”

The Highlands is downtown at 189 Main St./Route 1, with entrances both on Main Street and behind the business block. Hot and cold drinks, wine and beer are served, along with savory and sweet items.
