Janet A. Cassens

Exeter, N.H. — Janet A. Cassens, 83, died Aug. 29, 2017, at her home.

She was born Nov. 11, 1933, in Rockland, daughter of Daniel A. and Mildred V. (Quimby) Henderson, who predeceased her. Janet was one of eight children. She married David Lee Cassens and they lived mostly in Portland and Northwood, N.H., where David was a pastor.

Janet was a devoted homemaker and was the consummate pastor's wife. She greatly enjoyed hosting events and she was well versed in her Bible study. Janet could easily recite most Bible scriptures from memory. She also worked as a cook at the Exeter Hospital and drove for the Meals on Wheels program. Janet was currently living in Exeter, N.H., with her daughter.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1989; three sisters, Julie, Florence,Muriel; and two brothers, Daniel and George.

Janet is survived by her daughter, Pat Hysom, of Exeter, N.H.; son William Cassens of Rockland; grandson David Rowell of Parkersburg, W.V.; two sisters, Trudy Morine of Brewer, and Kathy Batchelder of Nashua, N.H.; three nieces; three great-nieces and two great-nephews.

Burial will be in Seaside Cemetery, Rockland.
