Rockland — Rockland Public Library, 80 Union St., will present a free screening of the 2012 documentary “Planet Ocean” Thursday, May. 24, at 6:30 p.m.

“Planet Ocean” captures extraordinary images of our remarkable oceans — the source of all life on our planet. Directors Yann Arthus-Bertrand and Michael Pitiot worked with an outstanding team of international underwater cinematographers, in partnership with OMEGA and with the scientific support of Tara Expeditions. The film aims to explain some of the planet’s greatest natural mysteries, while reinforcing how essential it is that mankind learns to live in harmony with the sea.

This year's Thursday Film Series is hosted by the Friends of the Rockland Library. In addition to watching great films, viewers can enter a drawing for books related to the movie's topic or theme donated by the Friend's Book Stop. For more information, call 594-0310.
