Anyone can be a Father but it takes a real man to be a dad!

June 15, 2014 - The Big Story

 Intentional, Pastor Adam Kohlstrom

Matthew 28:19-20; Colossians 3:23-24

How did you celebrate Father’s Day when you were growing up? Does your family have any unique Father’s Day traditions?

What do you think it means that God has revealed himself as “Father” (cf. Rom. 8:14-17; Gal. 4:4-7)? How have you experienced God as Father?

Share what was significant about your own graduation experience(s).

Mathew 28:19-20. What do you think would be the difference in approach between “life with mission” and “life as mission”? Why might just trying to somehow add “mission” onto our lives not be enough?

To treat discipleship as something additional is to reduce discipleship to a time, location, program, or set of activities. But what does Paul’s example communicate: Phil. 3:17; 4:9; 1Cor. 11:1; 1Thes. 2:8-12? What do 1Pet. 2:11- 12; 3:15; and 1Thes. 4:12 communicate about our life as disciples?

Pastor Tim Chester says, "Evangelism is doing normal life with gospel intentionality." How would you explain what it looks like to be intentional? What do you think “gospel  ntentionality” might look like (cf. Col. 3:23-24)?

J.D. Greear writes: “disciples of Jesus should always do their work with a missional vision. That requires two things: Do what you do well for the glory of God; Do it somewhere strategic for the mission of God.” How might you do this in your life as a graduate, a college student, a father, a mother, etc.?

Discipleship is not just something additional to do, but the call to be intentional in all that you do. How will you begin to live out this truth this week?
