Searsport — The Searsport baseball team put another notch on its belt for regional championship appearances on Saturday, June 12 as the No. 3 Vikings hosted upset-minded No. 10 St. Dominic Academy in the Class D South semifinals.

The Vikings held the Saints to two hits on the afternoon — while the hosts put on its typical, high-octane offensive display — and swung to the regional championship game with a 13-1, five-inning victory.

It is the second straight mercy-rule win for the Vikings in the playoffs after they dispatched No. 6 Vinalhaven 12-2 in five innings in the quarterfinals.

St. Dominic Academy, which upset No. 7 Buckfield in the prelim round and No. 2 Rangeley in the quarterfinals, saw its season wrap at 2-15.

Now, the Vikings (8-10) will face No. 1 Richmond (13-2) for the regional championship on Wednesday, June 16 at 3 p.m. at St. Joseph’s College in Standish.

It will be the sixth regional championship appearance for the Vikings since 2015, with no season played statewide in 2020 due to COVID-19. It also is the fourth straight time the Vikings and Bobcats will tangle for the regional crown.

The following is a recap of Searsport's quarterfinal and semifinal playoff games:
