‘If/Then’ at Black Hole

Tom Jessen explores the nature of the plane in “If/Then” at Rockland’s Black Hole gallery.

Rockland — “If/Then,” an exhibition that showcases the work of Tom Jessen from Temple, runs through Monday, July 31, at Black Hole, 403 Main St.

In his work, Jessen explores form, depth and the nature of the plane, through seemingly simple compositions that engage viewers through their treatment of surface, balance and materiality. “If/Then” represents a departure of sorts from the artist's earlier work, as he introduces color.

Alongside Collin Burns' “Maine Homage,” running concurrently in the gallery, Jessen's works both contrast and complement the illustrative, narrative pieces they hang beside. For more information, visit blackholegallery.com or call 808-2141.
