Ice Out Contest set for Washington Pond

Jan 30, 2014

Washington — Guess the correct date when the ice starts to leave Washington Pond and win $50.

The Washington Lakes Watershed Association is sponsoring its second annual Ice Out Contest. Entries can be submitted during the Feb. 8 Hill & Gully Snowmobile Club's Ice Fishing Derby and Snow Fest.

The Derby is held on Washington Pond. Come to the warming trailer at the public launch on Route 105, Razorville Road, to enter. One entry per person.

Contestants will have an opportunity to choose the date when a small boat can navigate in open water from one end of Washington Pond to the other. In the case of multiple correct entries, the winner will be selected by a drawing.

Washington Lakes Watershed Association is sponsoring the contest to bring attention to the Association and its work to protect the local waterways and watershed. For more information, email
