Warren — The Warren Board of Selectmen signed an employment agreement Aug. 28 with longtime employee Sherry Howard to become the new town manager.

Howard -- aka finance director, deputy general assistance administrator, motor vehicle registration agent, deputy tax collector and deputy treasurer -- was recognized last December for 25 years of service to the town.

She assumes the role after former Town Manager Bill Lawrence resigned as of March 30  to take a city manager position in Florida.

Howard started working at the Town Office in 1993 as counter clerk, applying for the job on the strong recommendation of past Selectman John Crabtree. She has worked for five town managers.

Her annual salary will be $70,000.
