How do colleges really choose students?

An inside look at the college admissions process

Rockport — High school students and their parents are invited to a presentation at the Rockport Public Library, 485 Commercial St., to help families understand the role essays, interviews, extracurricular activities, sports, course choices and other factors play in the admissions decisions colleges make. The presentation will take place Wednesday, May 30 at 6:30 p.m.

Wendy Thompson of Westport Educational Consulting, served on the admissions staff at Bowdoin College from 2000 to 2012, where she evaluated thousands of applications. Her college and independent school admissions career spans thirty years and she has helped students navigate the college search, selection, and application process since 2003.
