Nomination Papers

Nominations papers are available at the town office for the following positions. Selectmen, Assessor, Overseer of Poor (3-year term), two positions open; Budget Committee (3-year term), three positions open; School Committee (3-year term), one open position, (1-year term), one open position; Road commissioner (3-year term), one position. You can pick up papers at the Hope Town Office anytime during office hours. Papers must be returned by  4:30 p.m. April 29. Office hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. Voting for these positions will take place June 10 - the Town Meeting will be June 16.

Ladies Club

The club held their April meeting. There will not be a Mystery Ride in May. A "surprise" meeting will take place May 13 (instead of the Mystery Ride) at Hope Fire Station at 10:30 a.m., please bring your sandwich - beverages and dessert will be provided.

Hope’s Oldest Citizen

William would like to thank all who sent him cards and gifts on his birthday.


We extend our sympathies to the family of Charles "Chuck" Perry who passed away at age 52 (on April 10 in Newark, Del.). Chuck was the son of Rae and (the late) Tom Perry, and brother to Bruce Perry. Our condolences go out to all his family members.

Class of 1958

The class luncheon will be May 8 at The Helm at noon.

Hatchet Mountain Sno-Riders

The snowmobile club has retired for the season and will return in the fall.

Kindergarten Registration is May 2nd

Kindergarten registration will take place Friday, May 2, at Hope Elementary School. Please call the office at 785-4081 to schedule an appointment for your child.

The Center for Maine Contemporary Art displays student work

The Center for Maine Contemporary Art is hosting the annual Student Art Exhibition. Open Thursday through Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m., April 12 through April 27. Various students from Hope Elementary will have artwork on display (many grades represented, including kindergarten).

Senior Community Lunch

The Senior Lunch will take place May 1 at the elementary school. Lunch will include fried chicken, baked potato, green beans, salad bar and ice cream cup.

Union Fire Department – Free Carseat Safety Check

There will be a free carseat check Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to  2 p.m. at Union Fire Dept. (567 Union Road, Union). Please bring the car seat instructions, the owner’s manual for the vehicle and, if possible, the child who will be using the seat.
