Hope's Oldest Citizen

William Pearse Sr. will be celebrating his 94th birthday April 12. Card are greatly appreciated (105 Mechanic St., Windward Gardens, Camden, ME 04843). William received word on Friday, March 21, he had become a great-great uncle (again) Mateo Edward was born on Friday (making William's sister Flora Smith a great-grandmother).

Signs of Spring

Juanita Hunt reported seeing several robins, several cardinals, geese in the mill pond, and two pair of bluebirds. Several others are reporting signs of flowers - that all points to spring arriving, yeah!

Hope Community Birthday Calendar

The community calendar is a wonderful fundraiser for Hope Elementary School and Hope Library. Volunteers are contacting households now, and the deadline is May 2. If you haven’t been contacted yet or you are new to the area, please call Judith Jones, 763-3576, to sign up. Calendars are $9, and checks to Hope Library may be left in the Hope Town Office, or mailed to the Library at 443 Camden Road, Hope, ME 04847. Thanks to everyone for your support!

Kindergarten Registration is May 2

Kindergarten registration will take place on Friday, May 2, at Hope Elementary School. Please call the office at 785-4081 to schedule an appointment for your child who turns 5 before Oct. 15.

Rockport Boat Club Summer Sailing Program

The Rockport Boat Club Summer Sailing program for youth’s age 6 to 18 kicks off its 2014 season in June. For more than 30 years, the primary mission of Rockport Boat Club has been to provide safe, fun and engaging sailing instruction for youth of member families and the community at large. Come share the excitement of spending time on beautiful Rockport Harbor. Classes are open to all ability levels. New this year is online registration. Registration is open April 7. Hope Historical Society

Presenter Ryan Powers of Hart Blueberries -- berrying on Clarry Hill -- will be the guest speaker Tuesday, April 15. The meeting will be at Hope Corner Fire Station - the meeting at 7 p.m. and presenter at 7:30. The public is welcome; refreshments will be provided.
