Ladies Club

The Ladies Club will meet April 8 at Denny’s in Rockport - meeting starts at 11 a.m. and lunch at 11:30.

Maine State National Geographic Bee

Congratulations to our sixth-grade student Linsey Low for qualifying for the Maine State National Geographic Bee. The bee will be Friday, April 4, at the University of Maine at Farmington. One hundred students from around the state will be competing for a spot at the National Bee in Washington D.C. in May. Good luck Linsey!

Senior Community Lunch

The Senior Community Lunch will be April 3, at Hope Elementary School. Lunch will include corn chowder, johnny cake, salad bar (featuring diced ham) - lunch starts at 11 a.m. and costs $4 per person. Please call by Wednesday, April 2, to reserve a spot (785-4081).

8th Grade Auction News

Thank you to the many generous individuals and local businesses that have donated items for the eighth grade auction! It is sure to be a big success! Please preview some of the items on our auction Facebook page at facebook.com/HESAUCTION. The menu for the evening includes a chicken and rice entrée and homemade desserts. A vegetarian option will also be available. Bring family and friends and enjoy a fun-filled night under the stars! Tickets will be available at the door and in the school office. Event is Saturday, April 5, 5:30 p.m. Silent Auction, 6 p.m. dinner, 7 p.m. live auction. Costs are $7 adults, $5 children (ages 5-12), $20 family, younger than 5 free.

Nomination Papers

In addition to last week's list -- an additional School Committee slot has opened up for one year. Please pick up papers in the Town Office before April 29.

Books needed for the free book table

Hope Elementary School is asking for people to please consider donating books to our free book table. Kids love to pick out books!

April fun from Partners for Enrichment

PFE is delighted to announce that Nancy Tyndall will be bringing her wonderful Milkweed Puppet Theater to HES’s kindergarten, first- and second-grades Thursday, April 3, Tuesday, April 8, and Thursday, April 10. During these workshops, students will make their own puppets and put on a puppet show. Partners for Enrichment is an all-volunteer nonprofit providing arts and science enrichment to the kindergarten through eighth-grade schools of Hope, Appleton and Lincolnville.

Budget Committee - meeting Thursday at 6:30 p.m. (March 27, April 3, 10 and 17)

Board of Selectman - second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.

Cemetery Committee - April 7 at 6:45 p.m.

Planning Board - April 1 at 7 p.m. (no fooling)

Hope's Oldest Citizen

William Pearse Sr. will be celebrating his 94th birthday on April 12.  Cards are greatly appreciated (105 Mechanic St., Windward Gardens, Camden, Maine 04843).  William received word on Friday, March 21, he had become a great-great uncle (again) Mateo Edward was born on Friday (making William's sister Flora Smith a great-grandmother).
