Rockport — Over the first weekend in June, Homeschoolers of Maine and their families got together at The Anchor Church in Rockport to celebrate seven graduates. The ceremony was focused not only on the graduates, but also on the parents, since they are the biggest part of the homeschoolers' education.

Traditionally, the diplomas are presented by a school administrator, but for the homeschoolers, their administrators were their parents. The diplomas were presented to the students after each parent gave a short speech about their child and their individual journey through homeschooling.

The commencement address was given by Pastor Chris Wilcoxson, who said, “If the foundation fails, all is compromised." The ceremony was brief and focused on family and what each graduate had achieved.
