Home-standing Eagles fly past Mariners for court sweep

South China — The Oceanside tennis teams trekked north for a double-dip at Erskine Academy on Tuesday, April 20, as the Mariners were dealt high school court losses on the afternoon.

The following is a recap of the matches:


Erskine Academy 5, Oceanside 0

At South China April 20, the Eagles swung to a pair of match victories, which proved enough to defeat the Mariners.

Oceanside also forfeited at third singles and first and second doubles.

The individual results, with Oceanside players listed first, were: In singles, Andrew Peaco lost to Bobby McCafferty, 1-6, 0-6; and Nathaniel Fogarty lost to Jack Blais, 1-6, 1-6.


Erskine Academy 4, Oceanside 1

At South China April 20, the Eagles soared past the visiting Mariners.

The individual results, with Oceanside players listed first, were: In singles, Jaska Malone lost to Julia Barber, 0-6, 0-6; Alydia Hatch lost to Lily Bray, 1-6, 1-6; and Alyssa Griffin defeated Kristin Ray, 6-3, 7-5.

In doubles, Hazel Ragozzine and Arianna Smalley lost to Isabella Parlin and Olivia Bourque, 2-6, 1-6; and Gracie Shafer and Addie Hendricks lost to Ashley Cavette and Hayden Hoige, 1-6, 0-6.
