Home energy presentation slated for Merryspring

Camden — Nancy Glassman of the Green Sneakers Project will lead a presentation on home energy efficiency at Merryspring Nature Center on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at noon.

The Green Sneakers Project is a multi-faceted, grassroots approach to bringing smart energy solutions to homeowners. Glassman’s talk will outline the mission, methods, and focus of Green Sneakers and will provide useful do-it-yourself tips on how to make home more energy efficient to save both wallet and the environment. Her presentation will conclude with a showcase of regional homes that have been monitored and weatherized by Green Sneakers.

Glassman has been the coordinator of the Midcoast branch of the Green Sneakers Project since January 2011 and has been involved in education throughout her career as a working artist. Green Sneakers is a volunteer, home energy efficiency project of Maine Partners for Cool Communities whose partners include the Maine Sierra Club, Maine Council of Churches, and Physicians for Social Responsibility, Maine Chapter.

This talk is the first of Merryspring’s 2013 Winter Talk Series, co-sponsored by The First and the Allen Insurance and Financial. Admission is free for Merryspring members, with a nominal fee of $5 for non-members.
