Holiday pet bags help feed local homeless animals

Dec 06, 2012

Our pet pick of the week is Shadow, a 3-year-old Mastiff/Pitbull mix. Shadow is just a big, overgrown goofy dog. A lovable lug of sorts. He is a good-natured, easygoing dog who is surprisingly gentle for his very large size. Shadow gets along with kids and other dogs, though he is not trustworthy around cats. If you like tall, dark and handsome, then Shadow may be just the dog for you.

Hannaford in Rockland is once again offering Holiday Pet Bags specially packaged with much needed items from our wish list; pet food, paper towels and more. These bags, priced under $10, have been instrumental in putting food in the bowls of our animals and other necessities to help us help the animals. We appreciate your support.

Looking for a gift for that special animal lover in your life? Give the gift that can be used 365 days a year, the Humane Society of Knox County’s 2013 Pet Calendar. It’s also a gift that keeps on giving. One hundred percent of the proceeds of this calendar, featuring beautiful pet pictures from our supporters and also of adopted shelter animals, will go toward the care of the animals at the shelter awaiting homes. It costs only $10 and can be purchased at the shelter, local pet stores and other local businesses that support the shelter. Call 594-2200 for more information.
