Rockland — Local artist Catinka Knoth will lead a December series of free art classes for adults on creating holiday cards, scenes and ornaments, at Rockland Public Library, 80 Union St. Classes meet most Mondays at 11 a.m. in the community room on Dec. 2, 9 and 16. There are no classes Dec. 23 or 30.

Knoth will provide instruction and guidance in drawing and creating December's holiday themes. Participants will work with colored pencil, crayon and paper cutting, with a focus on drawing in color.

Knoth provides the classes free of charge, with materials supplied. Friends of Rockland Library hosts the public workshops. Knoth, who creates watercolors of Maine and whimsical animal scenes that she offers as cards and prints, also teaches a free weekly children's drawing class at the library, sponsored by Wendy and Keith Wellin.
