St. George — The St George Historical Society presents a program about the businesses of Port Clyde Thursday, Sept. 27, at 7 p.m. at the Port Clyde Baptist Church, 843 Port Clyde Road. It will be a general overview of businesses and should provide a foundation for future programs about more specific businesses.

Participants will hear questions and answers about the best place to get penny candy, the local places to eat, the favorite menu items, the boat builders, the ship builders, who cut hair, were there gas stations, and where did they park all the cars when the factory was running?

The public is invited to bring stories, photos and questions about the former businesses of Port Clyde. Refreshments will be served.
