Workers lay the foundation of the Camden Opera House, 1893. Camden was rapidly rebuilt after the devastating fire of 1892. In the photo, the Higgins Livery Stable and a furniture shop are visible on the right; they fronted on Washington Street. In the center is Allen Spear's blacksmith shop, set back from Washington Street; and the turret of the Knox Woolen Mill can be seen in the background.
