Historical Photo - 1940 freshet

The Camden Herald headline for April 25, 1940, said "Snow, Sleet and Rain Storm Severe . . . Though the snowfall was of but four inches, accompanying rain and sleet created havoc on the highways and roads."

This photo appears to be of a bridge, turned into an aqueduct by the flood, over the canal or "tail race" below the mill building, just upstream from the Rawson Avenue bridge. The open space across the bridge would be the Tannery lot now; at the time, the mill was the Camden Woolen Company. The building at the far left is the boiler house of the mill.
