Hensley, Branch play Rock City

Deb Hensley

Rockland — Rock City Cafe's Velvet Lounge series will present Deb Hensley and Katey Branch Saturday, Feb. 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the downtown venue, 316 Main St.

Branch is a healing artist using art, poetry, dance and songwriting, as well as yoga, bodywork and counseling, to connect with the earth and spirit. Much of her art comes from the inspiration of the divine feminine. She has produced two CDs of original music: “Journeys,” life songs with backup from friends; and “HeartStones,” duets with Geoff Warner.

Following a rich childhood in a real Midwestern neighborhood, Hensley migrated to the Northeast; after raising two sons, she returned to the world of songwriting and music making. Her CD, “Dragonfly” with Jadyn McCune, has received airplay around Maine and the Northeast. Coordinator for the Transformative Language Arts Network and a consultant for early childhood education programs around the country, she co-founded vocal improvisation ensemble Improvox, with whom she performed for more than eight years.

As usual there is no cover; however, tipping the musicians is highly encouraged. For more information on this and other events happening at the coffeebar/cafe, call 594-4123.
