Warren — A health issue is the likely cause of the death Saturday, April 14, of a 48-year-old state prisoner.

The Department of Corrections confirmed the death of Jeremiah F. Young  at approximately 8:45 a.m., according to a press release from the Corrections Department.

Consistent with the department’s policy and Attorney General’s Office protocols, the State Police and Medical Examiner were notified.

Maine Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said Saturday that a health issue was the likely cause.

Young began serving his sentences in September 2015 out of Cumberland County for crimes including multiple probation revocations for robbery, misuse of identification, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer. The longest sentence was four years, 182 days.

He was scheduled to be released in February 2020.
