Healing the Heart Through Writing  POSTPONED

Dec 12, 2017
Kathrin Seitz

Rockland — Destination Wellness Midcoast Maine and Rockland Public Library, 80 Union St., will co-sponsor a talk titled Healing the Heart Through Writing by writer, editor, producer and professional coach Kathrin Seitz Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 6:30 p.m. ** POSTPONED TO JAN. 9 **

Studies have shown that when people are given the opportunity to write about physical and emotional upheavals, they often experience improved health and come away with a deeper understanding and affection for who they are. Seitz will guide students through writing exercises and prompts to explore their challenges.

Expressive writing, which involves writing down one’s deepest thoughts and feelings, has been shown to improve physical and psychological well-being. Writing allows people to tap into the uncluttered and unstructured aspect of themselves, to “go deep.” It is thought that many aspects of physical ill-health originate from this deeper state of being. Writing may bring about a more profound understanding of life's challenges and accelerate the journey toward optimal health.

The presentation is free. For more information, call 594-0310.
