UPDATED: Debra Hall will not seek reelection to Select Board

Hart and Boucher seek Select Board seats in Rockport

Rockport — Select Board Chair Debra Hall announced March 8 she will not be seeking reelection in June.

She said in the Select Board meeting she would be devoting more time to her work on the broadband project.

Board Member Denise Munger said there will be time to thank Hall for all of the amazing things she has done for the town.

Christopher Hart and Eric Boucher have taken out nomination papers to run for three-year terms on the Select Board.

Nomination papers are available at the Town Clerk’s Office for positions including those held by incumbent Select Board members Debra Hall and Jeffrey Hamilton.

Marcia Dietrich has taken out papers to run for reelection for her three-year seat on the School Board.

Helen Shaw is seeking another term on the Library Committee.

Seats available include:

• Three 3-year terms for the Budget Committee, currently held by Helen Shaw, Jerod Cronkite & Hanna Demmons.

• Two 3-year terms for Library Committee currently held by Helen Shaw & Elizabeth Dailey.

Nomination papers need to be returned by 5 p.m. on Friday, April 9 with at least 25 signatures and no more than 100. The election day (and annual town meeting) is June 8.

Town Manager Bill Post issued his report including the following items of interest:

“Truck Driver/Equipment Operator/Laborer Daryl Libby has submitted his retirement notice to the Town effective May 27, 2021. Daryl has worked for the town for 16 ½ years.”

“Bill Najpauer is transitioning into retirement and has been replaced by Orion Thomas as Rockport’s Planning & Community Development Director. Orion is in the Town Office on Wednesday and Thursday each week as part of Rockport’s contract for planning services with the Midcoast Economic Development District (MCEDD). Orion can be reached at or 236-0989. We thank and wish Bill Najpauer all the best.

“As of Monday, March 1, 2021 the Town’s staff returned to regular shifts and the Town Office is open during the regular times (Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.).”
