Hair/makeup residency begins at Camden Hills

Terri Harper Ralston will offer two months of after-school instruction in theatrical hair and makeup design and execution at Camden Hills Regional High School.

Rockport — Interested Camden Hills Regional High School students are encouraged to attend the upcoming Youth Arts residency presented by hair/makeup artist Terri Harper Ralston.

The series of classes will begin Wednesday, Dec. 6, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the school's Black Box Theater.

The first session will focus on Fantasy Makeup. Future sessions will be: Dec. 13, Cartoon Character Faces; Jan. 3, Prosthesis and Latex; Jan. 10, Prosthesis and Latex 2; and Jan. 17, Character Makeup. To sign up, students should contact Rick Ash at; or just show up for the first session.

Ralston attended the Fashion Institute of Design and has an extensive resume of more than 20 years in film, ballet, opera and musical theater makeup/hair design. She has collaborated with the Camden Hills theater department since “Beauty and the Beast” (2008).

Founded in 1973, Youth Arts is a private, nonprofit, all-volunteer organization whose mission is to provide arts enrichment to the Five Town CSD and the Camden Rockport K-8 schools through residencies, workshops, mini-grants and performances. Through Youth Arts' generosity, the Camden Hills theater department previously has offered workshops in lighting design (2002) and the art of scene painting (2008).
