Rockland — The First Universalist Church, 345 Broadway, welcomes the Rev. Bernice Martin and singer/songwriter Heather Pierson, who will lead morning worship Sunday, Aug. 11, at 10 a.m.

The two women will share music from their songbook and companion CD, "Heart Songs and Circle Songs," released last year. The songbook is a collection of 37 chants, rounds and songs of peace, empowerment, wonder, joy and community.

Pierson is a Maine-based pianist, singer-songwriter, and performer who frequently tours throughout the United States, both as a solo artist and with her acoustic trio. She has released 11 CDs of her original music, ranging in style from folk to jazz to vocal chants. Since 2003, she has been the music director of the First Universalist Church of Norway.

Martin is a singer-songwriter, licensed massage therapist, and an ordained community minister. She is the founder of Voices In The Silence, a multi-faith contemplative worship series. As an experiential educator, Martin has worked in a variety of settings with groups and individuals of all ages.
