Good Tern begins winter event series Jan. 16

The Good Tern's winter series begins Jan. 16, with a class on fermenting root vegetables taught by Jodi Cooper.

Rockland — Good Tern Natural Foods Cooperative Market and Bagel Café, 750-754 Main St., announces a slate of early winter events, including classes, lectures, exhibitions and a wine-tasting. All events are free.

The first event is Jan. 16 at 5 p.m., is a class titled “Fermenting Your Roots” where participants can learn methods and recipes for preserving root vegetables through the winter. The class is taught by co-op Wellness Buyer,Jodi Cooper, who has many years’ experience preparing sauerkraut, yogurt and other ferments and who initially learned her craft from her father. Participants should bring a pint canning jar to the class. A hat will be passed to cover other expenses.

Other events include a CBD Oil information session with The Medicine Farm, a Maine-based organic hemp oil farm, at 5 p.m. Jan. 23; a gallery opening with photographer, Eve Hupper from 5 to 6 p.m. Jan. 25, which includes a wine-tasting; a class with aromatherapist Nancy Lubin at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27; and a hands-on class for all ages on making Valentine's Day chocolates taught by Casandra Rossiter Sunday, Feb. 3, at 1 p.m.
