Golf tourney to raise funds for Masons' youth programs Sept. 29

Aug 30, 2019

Rockland — The Aurora Lodge of Masons hosts a golf tournament at the Rockland Golf Club Sunday, Sept. 29, beginning at 1 p.m. Participants register at the golf club with a fee of $85, which includes 18 holes, a cart, lunch, contest and prizes.

Proceeds of the event will support two youth programs of the lodge. The first is Bikes for Books, through which the lodge donates bicycles to elementary students in Cushing, Owls Head and South Thomaston for summer reading. Students read a teacher-assigned amount and submit their names for a drawing; the more they read, the more entries they get. Winners are drawn and bikes are awarded at a school assembly.

The second program is Project Graduation. Proceeds from the tournaments have allowed the lodge to give at least $1,500 to Oceanside High School for its Project Graduation.
