Get to Oceanside soon for free food

Jul 24, 2020

Rockland — The director of the Knox County Emergency Management agency urged people to come to Oceanside High School in Rockland before 2 p.m. to get free food.

Ray Sisk said shortly after noon Friday, July 24 that there was still half a semi-truck full of food. He said there was no income requirements to get the food.

As previously publicized, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 24, The Salvation Army of Rockland, Knox County EMA and The Maine Farmer's Exchange will have free food boxes containing bags of raw potatoes, mashed potatoes, cheese and milk for everyone needing food supplies. This is a first come, first serve basis while supplies last.

The food giveaway will be at the Oceanside High School parking lot, located at 400 Broadway in Rockland. The drive-through distribution staff asks that everyone stay inside their vehicle and follow the signs. There are no sign-ups, paperwork or prerequisites required. A volunteer with masks and gloves will assist in putting the food supplies into each vehicle that arrives.
