ROCKLAND - Mid-Coast School of Technology Adult Education is still accepting applications for two upcoming certificate healthcare courses. These are 8 am – 4 pm courses. Prospective students must be 18 years of age, and have a high school diploma or equivalency.  Contact 596-7752 opt.3 for an application to either course and to discuss career options.  Healthcare is a growing field with a secure future with many opportunities available for employment!

A 7 week Personal Support Specialist health certification course begins October 30th and certifies individuals to provide care to individuals in home settings. This 50-hour P.S.S. course is held Mondays and teaches how to provide personal care, report and document client status, communicate effectively, respond to emergency situations, and understand consumer rights and issues for the aging.  Students must  have a clean driving record and no criminal offenses.  There are 2 spots left in this course.  Deadline to apply is Wednesday, October 25th.

We have 4 spots left in our 200 hour CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) course starting Tuesday, November 7th.  Classes are held Tuesday through Thursday for 9 weeks.  Upon successful completion of the course and passage of the state competency exam, the student will be eligible to enter the healthcare field under the direction of a licensed nurse. CNA's are in demand locally and graduates have choices for employment in long term care, assisted living, home care, and hospitals.  Applicants must have no criminal offenses.  Deadline to apply is Wednesday, November 1st.
