The figure could prove to be an extremely difficult subject to paint without the proper tools. This class will guide you through the steps necessary to accurately paint and draw the human form and offer various tips and tricks that may ease the stress of the process. Each week a new aspect of the human body will be addressed until you are comfortable enough to begin painting on our own. This series is appropriate for all levels.

Creative Color Wheel
Instructor: Anne Hebebrand
Wednesday, July 17, 9 a.m. - noon, $35
In this workshop design your creative color wheel, which will be a useful tool for future paintings.  Learn how colors react with each other, which colors compliment each other and which ones create harmony. You will create several small compositions using acrylics. Beginner or intermediate students will enjoy translating their newfound color knowledge into works of art!

Learn Camera Settings the Easy Way
Instructor: Karen Olson
Thursday, July 18, 9:30 – 11:30 a.m., $35
Manual Mode is Where the Art Is. Most of us leave our cameras set to Auto mode and let our hi-tech cameras do the work, yet manual mode allows you to be the boss! With it, you can realize your vision and create artful and meaningful work. Learn how and practice changing the settings for your particular camera. Then we will help you balance the three camera settings, ISO, F-stop, and Shutter Speed, for the type of photography you want to shoot.

The Art Loft is a non-profit community art center that makes art accessible to everyone, no matter their ability, age, or income. They aim to inspire everyone to unleash their inner artist and flex their creative muscles on a regular basis. It is located inside the lobby of the Thorndike Building.
