Warren — Geraldine F. York (Geri) 70, passed away peacefully at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport Sunday, June 24, 2018, surrounded by her family.

Born in Rockland Aug. 2, 1947, Geri was the daughter of Geraldine Francis Everett and her father. She attended Rockland District High School, graduating in 1965.

Geri married the love of her life, Charles E. York, July 2, 1966.

Geri’s first employment was at GTE Sylvania in Waldoboro for several years. She later worked at Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockport before beginning employment at Frank D. Rowe School, which later became Warren Community School. In her 20 years at that school, Geri became one of the friendly faces of the front office. She knew all of the children and their families by name. After retiring Geri remained active in SAD 40 as a substitute teacher. She also became an active member of the Warren Food Pantry, Wine Ladies Group and a yearly helper at Vacation Bible School at the Warren Baptist Church.

Geri’s passion in life was her family and friends. She always supported her boys, and was a very devoted grandmother, helping to raise all six of her grandchildren. Geri was always their biggest cheerleader at school activities and functions. We love you "The General," till we meet again.

Geri is survived by her husband of 52 years, Charlie; two sons, Kenneth, Michael and his wife, Kimberly; six grandchildren, Joshua Dodge, Elizabeth York, Anthony York, Jacob York, Nicholas York and Katelyn York; a great-grandchild, Emma, all of Warren; her brother, Peter Everett, and his wife, Karen, of Owls Head; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and close friends.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, at Warren Baptist Church, 166 Main St., where a celebration of Geri’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 11. The Rev. Dr. Linwood Welch will officiate. Interment will follow in Cushing Cemetery, North Pond Road, Warren.

Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Warren Food Pantry, P.O. Box 294, Warren, ME 04864.

I fondly remember Geri when I taught at the Frank D Rowe School many years ago. I was very sad to hear about her passing
