Rockland — On Wednesday, July 18, the Farnsworth Art Museum will present a special gallery tour of “Maine: The Farnsworth Collection.” The gallery tour, led by a member of the museum’s Curatorial team, will take place at 1:30 p.m., beginning from the downtown museum’s main lobby.

In celebration of its 70th anniversary, the museum has reinstalled some of the best works from its 15,000-object collection, more than doubling the space in this building and in the Wyeth Center for this purpose. The works in this presentation represent the diversity of the Farnsworth collection — with works spanning more than two centuries — as well as the inventiveness of the artists who have found Maine an inspiration for their work.

Lead Exhibition Sponsors for “Maine: The Farnsworth Collection” are Mrs. F. Eugene Dixon, Camden National Bank and Down East Magazine. The tour is free with museum admission. For more information or to register, visit farnsworthmuseum.org.
