Opening Day of the 72nd Maine Lobster Festival is July 31. As a throwback to the first festival, gate admission is just $1 for adults and free for anyone 12 years of age and under. The 72nd Maine Lobster Festival will officially open at noon on Wednesday, July 31, with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Gate admission for August 1, 2, and 3 will be $8 for adults, $2 for kids 5 to 12 years of age, and free for all children under 5. Sunday, August 4, is Family Fun Day and gate admission will be free for all visitors.

This year’s carnival is Kavanaugh Amusements, bringing retro favorites like Round Up, Tempest, and Rock-O-Plane, to name a few. Bracelet days will be Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. Bracelets purchased for $20 will let you ride the rides all day!

The Pirates of the Dark Rose will be at this year’s Festival offering tours of their ship, the Must Roos; weapons demonstrations including a cannon; a puppet show; a Pirate 101 class; and a talk on the history of female pirates. Dress like a pirate Thursday for free admission!

Sunday, August 4, will feature these not-to-be-missed children’s events: Children’s Fun Run, Children’s Parade, Diaper Derby, Codfish Carry, Lobster Eating Contest, and everyone’s favorite, The Great International Lobster Crate Race. Join us for these events and other fun entertainment.
