Fresh New Orleans sound comes to Strand

Rockland — Shamarr Allen and the Underdawgs will perform on the Strand Theatre stage, 345 Main St., on Saturday, Jan. 18, at 7:30 p.m.

Hailing from the Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans, Allen is the lead vocalist and trumpeter of his band Shamarr Allen and the Underdawgs. He has influences in jazz, hip-hop, rock, funk rhythms, blues and country, and has collaborated with many renowned artists including Willie Nelson, Patti LaBelle, Harrick Connick Jr., and Lenny Kravitz. Allen has performed at many festivals and venues around the world, and in addition to his role as lead performer, he is a music composer, writer, and producer. Allen’s unique look and sound transcends musical boundaries.
