"They Shall Not Grow Old” features colorized and sound-enhanced images from World War I.

Camden — On the evening of Veterans Day — Monday, Nov. 11 — the Camden Opera House’s Community Thank You Films series will screen Peter Jackson’s “They Shall Not Grow Old” at 7 p.m. Admission is free and open to all, sponsored by the Community Arts Fund. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

This moving documentary features colorized and sound-enhanced images from World War I. The title was inspired by the line "They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old" from the 1914 poem "For the Fallen" by Laurence Binyon. Using state-of-the-art technology and materials from the BBC and Imperial War Museum, Oscar-winning filmmaker Jackson allows the story of The Great War to be told by the men who were there.

The Camden Opera House’s Community Arts Fund supports programming such as the Blue Café series and MaineMadeMusic concerts, as well as free screenings and no-fee ticketing. Donations are welcome. For more information, visit camdenoperahouse.com/communityartsfund.
