Free parenting classes offered in Rockland

Dec 21, 2018

Rockland — The Knox County Child Abuse Prevention Council will offer Active Parenting, First Five Years, a free parenting class that will help parents and caretakers of infants and children, up to five years old, with many of the challenges of parenting in a demanding world. They will learn how to build stronger bonds with their children, learn how their child’s brain is developing and how to encourage positive behavior.

In collaboration with RSU 13, Active Parenting First Five Years will begin Wednesday, Jan. 9, and meet Wednesdays through Jan. 30. Classes will be held at the Rockland South School, 30 Broadway St., from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. A light meal will be served, and childcare is available. Everything is free.

Broadreach is the representative of the Child Abuse & Neglect Prevention Council of Maine for Knox and Waldo Counties, delivering programs supported by the Department of Health & Human Services and Maine Children’s Trust.

Registration is required. To register or learn more about parent education offerings, call Helen Rogers at 207-930-9445 or 338-6675, or email hrogers@brmaine.org.
