Franti to bring Stay Human Tour to Union

Union — Michael Franti & Spearhead will bring their Stay Human Tour to the Midcoast Sunday, July 15. The 7:30 p.m. show is part of the popular summer concert series at Savage Oakes Vineyard and Winery, 175 Barrett Hill Road. Tickets go on sale March 30 at 10 a.m.

Franti is a world-renowned musician, filmmaker and humanitarian who is recognized as a pioneering force in the music industry. He believes in using music as a vehicle for positive change; and is revered for his energetic live shows, political activism, worldwide philanthropy efforts and authentic connection to his global fan base known as the Soulrocker Fam.

Franti began writing music as a way to process both the political landscape of the late 1980s and his Bay Area upbringing. In 1994, he formed Michael Franti & Spearhead. The band released their seminal “Stay Human” album in 2000, reflecting on the unjust nature of the death penalty among other themes. “Stay Human II” will be released in June.

The Savage Oakes music venue offers an intimate outdoor concert experience. Food and a wide variety of Maine craft beverages will be served. Tickets, $60 in advance, are festival- style general admission; attendees are invited to bring along lawn chairs and blankets.
