Union — The popular summer concert series at Savage Oakes Vineyard and Winery, 175 Barrett Hill Road, hits its stride this month. Michael Franti & Spearhead will bring their Stay Human Tour to the vineyard Sunday, July 15, at 7:30 p.m.; and The Mavericks, with special guest JD McPherson, will perform Thursday, July 19, beginning at 7 p.m.

Franti is a world-renowned musician, filmmaker and humanitarian, revered for his energetic live shows, political activism, worldwide philanthropy efforts and authentic connection to his global fan base known as the Soulrocker Fam.

The genre-defying Mavericks have added to its 1990s hitmaker status with a series of recent albums that flash the same exhilarating, beyond-category style that has defined the band. JD McPherson offers a spirited, almost spiritual, hybrid that brings early rock ‘n’ roll into 21st-century studio technique and singer/songwriter idiosyncrasies.

The Savage Oakes music venue offers an intimate outdoor concert experience. Food and a wide variety of Maine craft beverages will be served. Tickets, $60 in advance, are festival- style general admission; attendees are invited to bring along lawn chairs and blankets.
